Its tree is up to 80-90 feet high and 8-10 feet in thickness.
Leaves- 6-10 inch long, grouped at the proximal part of branches.
Leaflets- 3-6, 1-5 inch long, 1- 2 inches broad, oval or rectangular, rounded at proximity.
Veins- 10-14 in number.
Flower- small, bisexual, greenish white.
Fruit- brownish black in the size of apple.
Bark- dark red in color.
Origin –Normally it is found in western, central and southern parts of India.
Chemical Constituent- Its bark consist of Tannin in the constituent of 17.41%.

Uses - Indian red wood is used in vitiation of kapha and pittaa.
Wounds to be washed with decoction of red wood, 70% ethanol extract of redwood is found to be effective in killing PANC -1 human pancreatic cancer cell, in addition cytotoxic activity against colon 26-L5 carcinoma,B16- BL6 melanoma, lung A549 adenocarcinoma cervix, He La adenocarcionoma and HT 1080 fibrosarcoma cell lines and their structure activity.

Gargles are effective in mouth and dental disorders.
Vaginal douche in vaginitis.
In Malarial fever decoction of bark in the dose of 25 ml thrice a day.
In Haemoptysis and Haematuria it is useful in fractures it helps in reunion.
