Diabetes

A disorder of the glands of pancreas is Diabetes, according to Ayurveda it is Madhumeha . It is one of the type of Prameha in ayurvedic texts. It is a metabolic disorder,if it is left untreated it will lead to rapid emaciation and at last death.It is a hereditary disorder as well as dietary irregularities lead to Diabetes. Sedentary life style, diet rich in carbohydrates and fats is responsible for this dreadful disease.
Diabetes is of two types
> Diabetes insipidus
> Diabetes mellitus

First is characterized by passing of large volume of urine which has low specific gravity and excessive thirst. Pathologically lack of anti diuretic hormone produced by pituitary gland is responsible for this disease. Causing factors also includes infections, inflammation, a tumour or syphilis. Diabetes mellitus is a constitutional disorder caused by the malfunctioning of pancreas that produces insulin . insulin is responsible for the assimilation of sugar into system. Sugar that is accumulated into blood is not converted into energy for muscles and tissues. Symptoms are failure of strength and loss of weight. The sugar passed through the urine may increase . the amount of sugar in the blood increases after a meal instead of being absorbed in the system. There is also a serious itch in the groin region , tendency of gangrene in the lower extremities is increased.

Signs and Symptoms

Indications of untreated diabetes are loss of weight, increased thirst, frequent urination and increased desire of having food. Prolonged high blood glucose may affect glucose absorption in the lens of the eye, which guides to adjust in its shape, ensuing in visualization transform.
