According to Ayurveda, lodhra is a divine herb. This herb is also known as Symplocos Racemosa. It has been used for thousands of years to cool pitta and mainly to improve women's health. Due to Kshay in nature it suppresses kaphapitta doshas so it acts on inflammations and help in clotting of blood pelvic inflammatory disease menorrhagia dysentry malena in stool used in blood disorders epitaxis leucorrhoea. Its decoction is given as an enema in the vagina.

Lodhra use to improves Complexion. It also facilitates to formulate the skin more healthy. Imbalanced pitta is a most important contributing feature towards poor complexion.

Lodhra is more dominant grahi herb. If there is already a propensity towards constipation, it should not be used in crude form, unless combined with added herbs under the direction of a Shaka Vansya Ayurveda practitioner.
